The Navodaya Vidyalaya system is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Its significance lies in the selection of talented rural children as the target group and the attempt to provide them with quality education comparable to the best in a residential school system.
The concept of opening a Navodaya Vidyalaya in every district of India was born as a part of the National Policy on Education, 1986 with an aim of providing excellence coupled with social justice. To start with, two Navodaya Vidyalayas were established during 1985-86, at Jhajjar (Haryana) and Amravati (Maharashtra). In this continuation, a Navodaya Vidyalaya at village Kareera in the countryside of Kanina town, District Mahendergarh, Haryana was established in 1988. Fulfilling the purpose of their establishment, JNV’s have consistently produced the best results in CBSE board exams over the years, the pass percentage being higher than Private and Government Schools and even Kendriya Vidyalayas.
JNV’s have also produced alumni in almost every field including doctors, engineers, chartered accountants, civil servants, educationists, banking professionals and entrepreneurs etc. Although schooling seldom directly leads to these success stories but Navodaya Vidyalayas have played a critical role in their success. JNV Kareera is not an exception in this regard. From JNV Kareera, first batch of alumni passed out in 1995 and there are twenty three alumni batches out till 2017. During first ten years, almost all alumni were in struggling phase, coping and adjusting with the harsh realities of the life outside the secured campus of JNV, deciding and shaping their careers. Exposure to the outside world was a whole new thing for them at that time. But now, after twenty years of coming out of the first alumni batch, many among them have secured their position in society and in life itself. In recent years, a number of JNV Kareera alumni came together and decided to connect with their alma mater to relive the memories of the days spent together, forming an association in the form of JNV Kareera Alumni Society.
This platform has been formed to unite all JNV Kareera alumni under one roof and to work together for the good of the students, the institution and the alumni family itself. In this continuation, this Alumni Reunion 2017 is being organized and JNV Kareera Alumni Society is extremely happy to publish REMEMBERIKA on this memorable occasion and inaugurating its website www.jnvkareeraalumni.org which will serve many purposes for alumni and the institution in future. JNV Kareera Alumni Society wishes good luck to all students, staff and alumni.
